ACCUMULATION INDEX - A numerical index of movement in a financial market, which takes account of both price movement (capital) and income (dividends). Investment performance should generally be measured against an accumulation index rather than a price index, which measures movements in price only (not income). (See also All Ordinaries Accumulation Index).
